SUMMARY:Guatemalan Kite Residency
DESCRIPTION:Teaching elementary students about the Mayan tradition of kite-making.\nOctober 2005\nThe Drachen Foundation collaborated with Brolly Arts to teach a series of workshops where nearly 1,000 children from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds created collage-style kites on the Day of the Dead.\nStudent participants had the opportunity to construct their own miniature kites, integrating social studies and math curriculum in the process. The results were astounding as each child created kites that carried a special meaning.\n \n
